An amazingly dedicated Clinician who was the only Consultant who was able to diagnose the fact that I had a completely destroyed hip caused by Osteoarthritis! I spent four years trying to find an appropriate solution and within 20 minutes of meeting Mr Norton i had an accurate diagnosis and within 12 days a totally successful Total Hip Replacement with a prothesis that will last for my life span an enable me to return to my active lifestyle. I own and ride 3 horses, dogs and other livestock and now, seven weeks on I am doing absolutely everything I was able to do four years ago and currently walking up to five miles a day. i was able to "throw the crutches over the hedge" at four weeks post surgery. I will return to riding at 12 weeks. I cannot thank Mr Norton enough for giving me a new lease of life and enabling me to carry on with one of the things that gets me out of bed in the morning! He is kind, efficient, totally professional and gives you time to explain and ask all the necessary questions with patience and understanding. He's also excellent at sewing and using super glue! Mr Norton-the surgeon of your dreams! thank you, thank you, thank you!

I saw Mark Norton for a consultation regarding an injury to my hamstring. He gave me an emergency appointment at 2 hours notice for which I was most grateful. He examined me most thoroughly having listened to the circumstances leading to my injury.Mr Norton then explained to me very clearly the nature and severity of my injury. He proceeded to provide me with detailed advice with regard to a recommended process which would lead over time to a full recovery. This included rest, exercise and physiotherapy and gave me a timetable to work to. He has provided my GP, physiotherapist and myself with comprehensive written follow up information within 24 hours. I felt very reassured and confident that I had been well advised.I felt that I have been treated as a finely tuned athletic rather a 76 year old who had fallen off his boat.

At the relatively young age of 53, I had a right total hip replacement 5 years ago performed by Mr Mark Norton at The Duchy Hospital, as an NHS patient. I made an amazing recovery from the surgery but developed trochanteric bursitis which has meant x-ray guided steroid injections to help with the inflammation. My experience has been extremely positive. Mark is always happy to explain the procedure in a caring and positive manner. He is not only very approachable, he is incredibly professional and dedicated to the welfare of his patients. He never talks over you or makes you feel your pain or problems are insignificant (unlike some doctors I have met in the past). I must stress that the whole team deserve credit too. If you need a new hip, go to this man. Thank you Mark.

Mark was most welcoming. He listened to my progress update. He was able to give me further suggestions in order to help my progress and organised more physiotherapy. He is most caring helpful and understanding. I felt he gave me as much time as I needed. He is a true professional in his field.

I wish to show my appreciation of Mr Mark Norton. He detailed the procedures required for a total left hip replacement succinctly. He was very understanding of my position re the pain I have all the time and the medication required to control so I can move. I look forward to having my operation and then be able to move ,walk and keep house. The hospital "pathway" was touched on and I trust that this will enable my operation to proceed, and give me back the mobility I formerly enjoyed. There is no suggestion on how he could improve care. I think he is very caring.
